Thai investment properties and Gran Canaria holidays for a bit of variety

People that like to holiday in South East Asia could do worse than consider buying a second home there as in places like Chiang Mai it should be fairly easy to rent them out when they are empty. They are also likely to appreciate over the next few years as well as make a nice place to stay when in Thailand. Closer to home, Gran Canaria is a popular destination and offers visitors a range of attractions such as sailing trips, a vibrant nightlife, busy markets and a wide variety of restaurants to dine in. It is possible to spend a quiet couple of weeks there or have a party every evening and come back needing another holiday afterwards. Chiang Mai is a different proposition altogether. For a start it is nowhere near the sea so is certainly not the place to go if beaches are a must.

On the other hand it has many other attractions such as the nearby jungles where it is possible to go on elephant treks, and the modern city with fashionable restaurants and bars. There are also numerous old temples to visit for people who enjoy a bit of culture. A package deal in the Canaries is obviously going to be a lot cheaper than a holiday in Thailand with the flight being much shorter for a start and more convenient for people that only have a limited amount of time to spare. Although there are quite a few places that serve British food, Gran Canaria holidays also offer the chance for visitors to sample the local cuisine which has Spanish and North African influences. Thai food is quite well known to UK residents and in Chiang Mai it is possible to find all the favourites such as green curry as well as some Northern specialities.

English is spoken by many in the tourist industry but for those who like to stray off the beaten track, learning a little Thai will make things a lot easier. Spanish is the language of the Canaries although it is slightly different to what is spoken on the mainland. As tourists have been visiting the islands for so many years it is not hard to get by speaking only English though. Holidaymakers who take the time to learn a little Spanish however will find that it is much appreciated and may enable them to get more from their holiday. When in Chiang Mai there are many language schools for people that would like to learn Thai and prices for group lessons are usually very reasonable. If you are considering buying a property there then it is definitely worth spending some time learning the basics. Gran Canaria and Thailand are both good places to visit for lovers of seafood and the variety of fish found in the Canary Islands makes a nice change from what can be found at the local fish and chip shop back home. Moray eels and parrot fish are two of the more unusual offerings.
